SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Harold Coego - Infinite Line
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the opening reception of the Massy Gallery’s newest exhibition\, Harold Coego’s Infinite Line! \nThe opening reception will run from 6 to 8 pm on January 4th in the Massy Gallery (upstairs at 229 E Georgia St). \nABOUT THE ARTIST: \nI am a self-taught interdisciplinary artist born in Havana\, Cuba\, who works with a wide range of creative disciplines. I have sculpted in Vancouver’s film industry\, as well as: set designed\, light arranged\, storyboarded\, and written scripts for the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematography. I conducted similar work in theatre while working with the international acclaim “Obstacle Theatre” in Havana\, prior to my work in the theatre I worked as an archaeology assistant and paint restoration assistant for the Office of Habana Historian and touched up paintings that dated back to 1560. As an artist who developed his skills outside of academia and through experience\, my style is eclectic and influenced by the different artists and practices I worked with. \nMy work has been exhibited since 2004 in Vancouver and has been featured in shows that span from the southern interior city of Vernon\, BC to the American state of New York\, and across the ocean in Romania\, Italy as well as Cuba. \nABOUT THE EVENT: \nThis event is taking place on the unceded territories of the Musqueam\, Squamish and Tseil-Waututh Nations. \nAccessibility information: the gallery is currently only accessible by a flight of stairs. \nMassy Books is easy to reach by transit! Close to the 22\, 3\, 8 and 19 bus lines at Main and Georgia/Gore and Georgia. There is metered street parking along Georgia\, or lot parking at the Sun Wah Centre around the corner (268 Keefer).
